The dynamic duo of freestyle rappers comprising Cold Lampin. Originally founded in SE Portland, OR by DJ Durwood and The Brothers Bocek of The Bubblecats in the year of our lord, 2008, lol.

Durwood recorded half ass beatbox loops on a Boss digital recorder with a dynamic microphone and had Joel and Jordon record guitar and bass, respectively over the rhythm loops while being hilariously recorded by a young, clueless DJ Durwood. Every track recorded too hot and digitally clipping.

Brief stints with MC Akes and DJ Joe Precise came and went with very little fruit falling off of the rap tree. Preceding all of this was GP-N-HyRyda, an extremely rudimentary rap group comprised of DJ Durwood (then known as Hyryda) and Godfather Pimp of Oregon City by way of Yakima, WA. This was in the myspace era and mixing and mastering might as well have been astrophysics to the young men!

2010 found DJ Durwood putting himself through lyrical bootcamp as he was tired of sucking at rapping, which he’d done since 2003. What emerged was a talent at off the top freestyling which could basically adapt to any beat, crowd or circumstance as it is 100% improvisational. He plied this craft with Rex and Evan and a handful of others but found extremely solid traction with it in a young collaborator named Joey Ramz.

These 2 MC’s persist with the Cold Lampin Sound boldly taking it into 2025 and beyond.
